Digestion and Detoxification

I went to a talk by Dr. Gaetano Morello, ND at Mantra with Diane, my co-worker from Pharmaca.  The topic was Digestion and Detoxification.
He begin the lecture with North Pacific trash Vortex..  It's garbage in pacific ocean size of Texas.  We are living in toxic world.
America- fast food on every corner.. causing diabetes.. chronic condition.
1) water can't get inside the cell --> thirsty
2) sugar can't get inside the cell --> tired
3) increase sugar in body
More than 1 in 4 have GI condition
Impaired digestion cause- fatigue, arthritis, allergies, diabetes, cancer..
GI is 70% of our immune system..
Decline of Digestive health- lack of enzyme, poor diet, bacteria, candida, toxins ---> leaky gut ---> autoimmune disease
Digestive system consist of:
Mouth, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, large intestine, rectum....  Our stomach's PH is 1.2, need to keep it acidic.  Stomach lining protect the rest of the body.
Conventional Medicine such as Magnesium, aluminum, calcium raise PH ---> block nutrient and mineral absorption.
How to build a Healthy GI tract?  Probiotic, Enzymes, and DGL
Enzymes break down food. Without enzyme, food can't be digestived and absorbed, and we would starve no matter what we ate.
Enzyme deficiency ---> indigestion, gas, bloating

DGL
- Deglycyrrhizinated licorice root is clinically studied for treatment of peptic ulcers.

Detoxification
- Increase Vitality by reducing toxicity
Toxic world---- Environmental influence is #1 cause of diseases!
Good detox includes
Fiber, laxative, and liver support
Week 1- increase antioxidants
Week 2-NutriClean Detox system

NutriClean HepatoCleanse
- remove toxins and supports healthy liver function.

Conclusion
Fix digestive tract-- > Probiotic, enzyme, and detox!

Have a good night!

Why our health matters

There is 3 V's ( visiblity, value, and validation ) in a business.
Visibility is the awareness in the community of who you are
Value is that we are not a discount store, we show caring, and love to our customers.
Validation is read in books such as Andrew Weil's "Why our health matters", it tells you the future of health care = integrative medicine.

In his book, Dr. Weil breaks in 3 parts
Part I
Where we are
"I now understand that when you lose your health, nothing else that you have matters. All you can think about is being well again."
Why is health care so expensive?
1. we give little care to prevention of disease and promotion of health. The whole industry of health care is geared toward intervention in established disease- much of it preventable.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a lb of cure"
2. intervention is expensive due to costly technology.

3 Myths
1. Because America has the most expensive health care in the world, it must have the best.
2. our medical technology is our greatest asset
3. our medical school excel at creating world's finest physicians.

Part II
Where we need to be
Imagine that a doctor visit of the future would be like this: A worried mother calls her family doctor and tells his receptionist that her son is sick. The receptionist offers the appointment for later that day and adds that for a moderate extra fee that doctor can make a house call if necessary. (Reminding me of Little house of a praire)
Reverse
Trend #1 Deterioration of Medical Philosphy and Practice- The need for low-tech, high-touch medicine.... teach people how not to get sick in the first place.
Today far more people take prescribed medicine than ever before. For example, at least one million children, mostly boys, take Ritalin and Adderall for ADHD. Even more people, old and young, take antidepressants, and pharmacists fill more then 35 million prescriptions for sleep medicines
Trend #2 Failure to Provide Health Care of All
Trend #3 The Growing Influence of Money

Doctors of the Future
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease... "Thomas Edison

Medicine of the Future
"Alternative", "Integrative" medicine
Traditional and modern chinese medicine. Mind/Body, nutrition, Dietary Supplementation, physical activity.

Part III
How to get there
Preventive Benefits of Dietary Modification
- Risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and many other chronic diseases can be reduced with adequate intake of fruits and vegetables, teas, chocolate, onion, broccoli, soy.

Preventive Benefits of Dietary Supplementation
- Antioxidants
- lutein
- B-complex
- Selenium
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin D

Preventive Benefit of Exercise

Preventive Benefit of Stress Management

I like Dr. Weil's vision. His vision is very similar to market america's.
If your health is important to you, you would go for prevention instead of intervention...before it's too late..

My experiences...
Why is that people drink coffee day and night and continues to do so even though they understand perhaps I should have drink chamomile tea and take herbal remedy such as DGL to increase mucous lining of the stomach.
Why is that people don't believe in probiotic and says they will talk to their doctors and decide.
Why is there so many people taking prescription pain killers and can't get off of them.
So many people have allergies due to diets..... allrgies includes sneezing, congestion, skin problems, etc...

Allergies

An allergic reaction occurs when the immune system misinterprets a normally nontoxic substance, such as grass, pollen, a detergent, or a certain food, as a harmful invader. The immune system then responds to this perceived threat, called allergen, by releasing substances called histamines. Histamines produce a wide range of bodily reactions, including respiratory and nasal congestion, increased mucus production, skin rashes and welts, and headache.

Causes
Allergies happen when the immune system attacks a harmless substance; dust, tree, grass, pollen, animal dander, feathers, bees, metal, chemicals, cosmetics.
Excess musus, caused by a poor diet
Stress, which depress immune system

Treatment
Diet
eliminate mucus producing foods, immune support

Try 7 day Detox

Supplements
OPC3
ORAC
Vitamin C
Omega III- reduce inflammatory response

Go for the Glow

Proper nutrition inside and out protects your skin from summer sun.
Protect yourself from sun by using a sunblock (with zinc oxide, a mineral compound) that immediately deflects ultraviolet A and B.
If you get sunburn, topical aloe vera can help.
Basic regimen
wash face day and night with gentle cleaner, exfoliating old cells, toner, and moisturizer
moisturizing daily using mineral makeup that has spf 20 and above.
get plenty of sleep, exercise, and stress relief, regular skin cancer checks. (http://www.skincancer.org)

Internal Skin-care

eat anti-inflammatory diet- lots of fruits and vegetables- beta-carotene(orange and yellow produce) lycopene (tomatoes and red fruits) lutein (green leafy vegetables) and minimizing sugar, caffeine.
OPC3- too much sun can creates free radicals --> wrinkles and possibly skin cancer. antioxidants are key to protect your skin

Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic health problem.  It's important to cover the general health supplements and in addition to supplement target only to diabetes.

In the morning
OPC3- antioxidants are generally required in higher amounts in people with diabetes
ORAC- antioxidant
Multivitamin
Coenzyme Q10- Q10 tends to be low in people with diabetes.

after meal
digestive enzyme with probiotic
aloe

before sleep
B-complex- involved with glucose metabolism and is helpful for type 1 and type 2 diabetes, also  helps with diabetic neuropathy.
Calcium and Magnesium- involved with insulin production and utilization.
vision- promotes healthy vision, maintain healthy macular density, support night vision and eye circulation.

There is a supplement target only to diabetes, the main ingredient is chromium.. if you take this, you can substitute with Coenzyme Q10 in the morning.
Isochrome- helps promote healthy blood sugar levels, increase stamina, supports healthy insulin activity, have coenzyme Q10.

I know it seems a lot, Generally people starting taking these supplements start to feel better, and their blood sugar level will maintain balanced, the body with adjust itself to maintain its health.

Menstrual cramps

Menstrual cramps

-common condition

-primary dysmenorrhea (8 out of 10 girls diagnosed)

-diagnosed when all other causes of pelvic pain are ruled out (PID, Celiac, narrow Os,     Endometriosis, cysts, fibroids)

-usually due to lack of blood flow (uterus kind of ‘ischemic’) which causes imbalance in   prostaglandin production leading to pain & inflammation

In the morning,

           -Multivitamin

            -OPC3

            -ORAC

At night, after meal,

-Calcium and Magnesium- controls muscle tone which prevents cramps

            -Digestive Enzyme and probiotics

Market America 2009 International Convention

What a 4 day weekend! "Belief" was the magic word during the conference.
Henry says his experience is like a christian conference with a touch of business. I thought that was really nice description of our weekend.
There were songs, emotions,  and feeling of strength and positive feelings throughout the weekend.  Even though we didn't sleep well, had to bump from people to people to get to the good seat, then sit at least 10 hours with lunch being the only break, we still had a great time!

I want to share some of the notes I had for being a successful MA business owner.

Eat right for your type

Do you believe that you can improve your health and follow by a diet based on your blood type?
The book, "Eat right for your type" is based on the belief that no 2 people on the face of the earth were alike. Because everyone were different from one another, it is logical they should eat different foods. The only way to maintain health or cure illness is to accommodate to the person's specific needs.
I first heard about this from Dove, our accupunturist from work. He ask me what my blood type was and I said Type O.
He says I am a meat eater, and I should do intense phyical actvities, such as karate..
Well, I do eat lots of meat and I like to do karate and yoga. After reading the book, it also states my risk factor includes ulcers and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis. Supplements I need to focus is:
supercharging the metabolism
increasing blood-clotting activity
preventing inflammation
stablizing the thyroid

Meal plan for type O (for me)
Breakfast
- Bread with butter/jam
- juice (OPC3 and Vitamin B-complex, probiotic with enzyme)
- Mochotonix with almond powder

Lunch
Roast Beef
Spinach Salad
apple
green tea

Dinner
Fish or Chicken
Veggie (broccoli/ string bean)
My smoothie (has lots of fruits)
tea

Let me know what your blood type is and I will post the Meal plan for that type :)
